Mary McCartney – STRIKING 6. 2 - 26. 3. 2026

Mary McCartney STRIKING – the exhibition of a world-renowned photographer moves from Galerie Rudolfinum to Praguekabinet

Photographs full of emotion, female strength and intimacy return to the heart of Prague

Following its great success at Galerie Rudolfinum, the exhibition by internationally acclaimed British photographer Mary McCartney is moving to the gallery and design store Praguekabinet, where the works will be available for purchase from 6 February to 26 March 2026. Praguekabinet regularly hosts art installations, exhibitions and creative collaborations, establishing itself as a place of vibrant inspiration. This approach is an integral part of its philosophy – to connect beauty, design and contemporary art into one harmonious whole.

Photographs from the exhibition Mary McCartney: STRIKING, which captivated visitors at Designblok 2025 in Galerie Rudolfinum last October, can now enrich your home or office with original photographic works distinguished by strong emotion and deeply personal stories.

The selling exhibition presents a selection of iconic works from thirty years of Mary McCartney’s career. Her photographic style is defined by the intimate power of portraiture, humanity and an empathetic gaze. Her images feature personalities such as Kate Moss, Stella McCartney and Tracey Emin, as well as anonymous faces captured with profound understanding.
“My portrait style is very personal, real and informal. I believe that’s why people trust me. They don’t expect sensation from me, but understanding. I like it when someone lets me in,” says Mary McCartney.

The exhibition is curated by Martina Lowe, who has collaborated with the artist over the long term. The selection of photographs was inspired by the theme “Courage” – in design, creativity and art. McCartney focuses on portraying both the physical and psychological strength of women, paying tribute through her portraits to women who inspire through their naturalness and courage to be themselves. The works connect well-known and lesser-known moments, reflecting personal stories, relationships and atmosphere. Each photograph becomes a quiet dialogue between the artist, the subject and the viewer.

About Mary McCartney

Mary was born in London in 1969 into an exceptionally creative family. From an early age, she was surrounded by music, visual art and freedom of expression. She began working professionally as a photographer in the 1990s. Her style combines a documentary approach with poetic imagery, at times incorporating a subtly staged element.

She has gained international recognition not only for her work, but also for her deeply human approach. In 2015, she was selected by Buckingham Palace to create the official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of the longest reign in British history. Her work has been shown in leading galleries worldwide, including New York (the exhibitions Mother Daughter and Embrace), London (Sotheby’s, Can We Have a Moment?), and France (Moment of Affection at Château La Coste). Her photographs are part of important private and public collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Portrait Gallery in London, and Fondation Hermès in Paris.
