Praguekabinet has the honour of offering you unique objects created by the legendary glass-making firm Venini. Its worldwide reputation is the outcome of a long-established tradition of an outstanding handicraft on the island of Murano together with original designs signed by many a major artist. From the outset the glass-making works, founded in 1921 by Milan lawyer Paolo Venini and Venetian antiques dealer Giacomo Cappelin, collaborated with distinguished sculptors, painters, designers and architects. They had a choice of several remarkable techniques and close to two hundred vibrant colours based on a closely guarded secret formula. Alessandro Mendini, Gio Ponti, Ettore Sottsass, Carlo Scarpa, Tapio Wirkkala, Timo Sarpaneva, Pininfarina, Cartier, and lately also Fernando and Huberto Campano, BarberOsgerby and Studio Job, have had occasion to design directly for Venini vases, bowls, carafes, and other exquisite glass objects hand blown by Venetian masters. Each piece is part of a limited and numbered edition and is thus a unique object.
Works by Venini enjoy pride of place in museums round the world, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. The choice of the products on our website is for orientation only. We will be happy to present to you the whole product line in our showroom.
