Markéta Picková

A student at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, specializing in the Studio of Ceramics and Porcelain, she focuses in her projects primarily on the creation of monumental sculptures and artistic objects. Her work often explores the boundaries and possibilities of the chosen material, while introducing innovative technical approaches.

Although her pieces captivate mainly through their strong visual message and a certain playfulness, they delve into deeper social phenomena and do not lack a critical perspective.

Markéta’s work is decidedly unconventional and unrestrained, frequently balancing on the fine line between applied art and sculpture.

She often positions herself against the mainstream concept of design, particularly rebelling against the much-praised practicality and functionality. Her large ceramic sculptures are hand-modeled, making each piece unique and impossible to reproduce.
